PRIDE NAMES ONE TO ACHA ALL-ROOKIE TEAM

The Slippery Rock Men’s Hockey team is proud to announce that Freshman player Wes Waldschmidt has been named to the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) all rookie team Wes is a Freshman at Slippery Rock University. He is an offensive minded defenseman who never hesitates to join the rush and his rookie point totals reflect that. He is a great skater with plenty of speed, mobility and size and rarely gets beat in the defensive zone. Wes sees the ice well and anticipates where the key plays will develop and is there to break them up and turn play the other way. Wes had earned many of his points this year on special teams where he is a key ingredient on the power play and also had three shorthanded tallies. He is one of the best defenseman in the ACHA. He is, without a doubt, a player to watch in the coming years. Wes was the leading scorer in the (PIHL) Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League last year 2006-07. He led his High School Team North Allegheny Tigers) to two city championships and a state championship last year.
